dfcu Bank and Uganda Red Cross Society have launched a blood donation drive aimed at increasing blood units in the blood bank.
According to dfcu, the drive will run for two days at their different branches in line with the bank’s ‘Community Development’ pillar of Corporate Social Investment policy.
Speaking at the launch in Kampala on Wednesday, 14 June 2023, Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) Secretary General Robert Kwesiga expressed gratitude for the initiative, commending dfcu Bank for its unwavering support of URCS’s mission and values. He appreciated the Bank’s commitment to facilitate blood donations at its branches.
Juliet Adong, Principal Assistant Secretary of Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS), extended her appreciation to the donors, whom she referred to as heroes for joining the noble cause. She also emphasised the value of the partnership with dfcu.
Dfcu Bank CEO Charles Mudiwa expressed the nobility of the event, especially as the World commemorates World Blood Donor Day.
He emphasized the unpredictability of when any individual might require a blood transfusion, emphasizing that it could happen to anyone at anytime. Mudiwa highlighted dfcu Bank’s purpose of Transforming Lives and Businesses in Uganda, emphasizing that this can’t be achieved if people aren’t in good health.
