Epidemic and pandemic preparedness program

This program aims to build the capacity of communities to be able to prevent, detect, respond and recover from epidemics and pandemic. The major focus is on risk communication, community engagement (RCCE) and social mobilization for communities to adopt recommended behaviors and practices for disease prevention and control.

URCS has been building a community based surveillance system that includes trained community based volunteers who use an sms-based platform to report alerts.

In the current COVID-19 response we have supported the roll out of the National Community Engagement Strategy (CES) where our volunteers are part of the Village COVID-19 Taskforces (VCTF) to conduct Risk Communication, surveillance, home based care and mobilization for vaccine uptake.
