Uganda Red Cross Society in partnership with European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (EU-ECHO), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies – IFRC, Netherlands Red Cross, and Austrian Red Cross on 21st February 2023 distributed Menstrual Hygiene Management Kits to 150 school-going girls of Rubondo community secondary school in Nakivale refugee settlement, Isingiro District.

This is in line with the URCS’ Keep-A-Girl-in-School (KAGIS) initiative aimed at improving Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) among Primary and Secondary school going adolescent and young women in vulnerable communities through sensitization and provision of pads. The kits comprised of re-usable sanitary pads, bucket, washing and bathing soap, kitenge (A cloth to cover the sanitary pads and knickers once placed under the sun to dry), 1 string for hanging the reusable sanitary pads and knickers.
