Uganda Red Cross Society and dfcu Group Forge Partnership to Deliver Impact for Communities in Uganda

The Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) and dfcu Group have strengthened their collaboration through a strategic partnership aimed at delivering shared value and advancing humanitarian support for vulnerable communities across Uganda.

The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), brings together the humanitarian expertise of the Uganda Red Cross Society and the financial and corporate leadership of dfcu Group. The bank will support the Uganda Red Cross, with particular focus on Blood Donor Recruitment and Mobilization and the Keep A Girl in School Initiative, among other humanitarian priorities.

Speaking during the engagement at the Uganda Red Cross Society headquarters in Kampala, Robert Kwesiga, Secretary General of the Uganda Red Cross Society, emphasized the importance of partnerships with the private sector in strengthening humanitarian response and preparedness.

“Strategic partnerships such as this one with dfcu Group are vital in enabling us to reach more vulnerable communities with life-saving support. By working together, we can mobilize resources, strengthen preparedness and ensure that communities are better equipped to respond to emergencies and humanitarian challenges.”

Representing dfcu Group, Mabel Ndawula, the Executive Director of the dfcu Foundation, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to initiatives that support community development and social impact.

“At dfcu Group, our purpose is transforming lives and businesses in Uganda. Our partnership with the Uganda Red Cross Society reflects our commitment to supporting initiatives that create sustainable impact and strengthen communities across the country.”

Under the partnership, the two institutions will collaborate in a number of areas including:

  • Supporting humanitarian initiatives such as blood donor recruitment and mobilization
  • Promoting the Keep A Girl in School Initiative
  • Providing opportunities for dfcu Group staff and stakeholders to engage in humanitarian activities
  • Supporting disaster preparedness and response efforts
  • Creating awareness and mobilizing resources for community resilience initiatives

The Uganda Red Cross Humanitarian Response Fund was established to mobilize resources from individuals, corporate organizations and partners to support humanitarian interventions including emergency health services, disaster response, water and sanitation, youth and women empowerment, and climate resilience initiatives.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment by both institutions to contribute to national development while improving the lives of vulnerable communities across Uganda.
